間眅埶AV CYC Students Raise Funds for Local Organization

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON May 24, 2023) Each year, 間眅埶AVs third year Child and Youth Care (CYC) students host the We All Love Kids (W.A.L.K.) event for community members to enjoy all while supporting a local organization. This years class collaborated to organize and host a fun, family-friendly event that welcomed community members for an afternoon of exciting activities in support of the Community Wellness Bus. CYC students presented a cheque for more than $3000 to the local organization, which focuses on helping individuals in need of medical care, referrals, harm reduction, and basic necessities.

Lisa Case, Clinical Director of the Mental Health and Addictions Program at Sault Area Hospital, expressed her gratitude for the generous donation. "On behalf of Sault Area Hospital, I would like to thank 間眅埶AVs third year Child and Youth Care class for their generous donation of $3,000 to support the Community Wellness bus initiative. These funds will be diligently used to support programming for some of our most vulnerable clients in our community.

The event was made possible by the generosity of sponsors such as the Kiwanis Club of SSM, which is a global organization dedicated to serving the children of the world one child, one community at a time. Our local club does service and fundraising with this goal in mind while trying to provide for the youth in our community. Our support of the CYC program is one way our club can improve the lives of youth in our city as these graduates may one day go out into our community and provide a service for the youth. We would like to thank the community for supporting our fundraisers, so we can continue to support our young children of our community, said Jim St. Jules, President, Kiwanis Club of Sault Ste. Marie.

The organizers of the CYC W.A.L.K. are thrilled with the success of the event and grateful for the support of the community and many generous donors and contributors, including Josh Mansfield, Mansfield Contracting, Samantha Lewis, Samantha Beauty, as well as Sport Center Bar and Grill, Thrive, CKB Woodworks, Odeno, and Entomica.

We are so proud of our graduating class for organizing another successful fundraising campaign, said Donna Mansfield, Professor, Child and Youth Care, 間眅埶AV. The students used their learning and skills and remained focused on ensuring the success of this event. 間眅埶AV is grateful to all those who helped make this event possible through various means. Our community has and continues to support our students and this year was no exception, Donna added.
